Test Requirements
Serum in plain tube (red top) or SST tube (yellow top) or in a separation vial. Centrifuge tubes within 1 hour. Separate centrifuged serum in plain tubes within 1 hour.
EDTA plasma and citrate plasma samples are acceptable alternatives.
Components include: SS-A / Ro 52kD, SS-A / Ro 60kD, SSB/ La, U 1-snRNP, Scl-70, PM-Scl AMA - M2, CENP B, DFS 70 antibody, dsDNA, Histones, Jo-1, Ku, Mi-2, Nucleosomes, PCNA, PO/RPP, SmD1
Clinical Utility
Diagnose systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases (SARDs) e.g. SLE, mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD), scleroderma, Sjögren's syndrome, polymyositis etc. Can be done as a follow-up test for a positive ANA result.
