Test Requirements
Serum required. It is performed as part of a "type and screen" whenever a blood transfusion is anticipated, as part of prenatal testing of pregnant women or in the investigation of transfusion reactions. Confirm indication prior to testing. Recheck any positive ICT result occurring in a woman who is not Rhesus D negative & has never been transfused.
Clinical Utility
Prenatal antibody screening, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, work up of transfusion reactions.
