Test Requirements

MULTI-SAMPLING required i.e. obtain baseline (pre-dose) serum sample for 3 TESTS i.e. FSH, LH, E2 (GIRLS)/ FSH, LH, TESTOSTERONE (BOYS). Clearly label it as basal/ pre-dose. 3.75mg leuprolide acetate IM depot should then be administered. Resample exactly 3 HOURS AFTER administration of leuprolide. This second sample should be clearly labeled as the 3hour sample and submitted for TWO tests i.e. FSH and LH.

Clinical Utility

Assessment of precocious or delayed puberty. Differentiates central from peripheral causes by measuring LH and FSH levels before and after leuprolide administration.
