Clinical Utility

The TORCH panel screens for infections that can cause serious complications in pregnant women and newborns. It tests for IgG and IgM antibodies for Toxoplasmosis, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV 1) and Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV). This panel helps identify maternal infections that could lead to congenital abnormalities or pregnancy complications. It's crucial for prenatal care, allowing early intervention to prevent or manage potential fetal infections. The results guide pregnancy management, delivery decisions, and newborn care strategies.
