Metal free tube i.e. Royal blue-top (EDTA) tube or royal blue-top without EDTA. Separate plasma/ serum within 2 hours of collection and keep at ambient/ refrigerated/ frozen temperature. Contrast interference is known to occur therefore specimens should be collected before contrast administration or >96 hours post contrast administration. Spot/ random urine in leak proof container. This test is prone to adulteration (dilution, swapping of samples etc.) by clients undergoing testing. Referring institutions should ensure that there is proper chain of custody. Collect other samples at ONE and TWO HOURS POST LOAD unless otherwise specified by the doctor. Sample labels must include time of collection (e.g. 0min, 1hr, 2hr). Urine samples are NOT routinely collected.
