2mL of endotracheal secretions/ bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL)/ sputum in sterile leak proof container.
Clinical history is required.
Keep samples refrigerated.
Test performed at Scanlab ELDORET lab. Confirm with Eldoret lab before sending.
Clinical Utility
Multiplex molecular panel (multiplex PCR technology), which tests for 18 bacteria, 8 viruses associated with lower respiratory tract infections including hospital-acquired and ventilator-associated pneumonia and 7 antimicrobial resistance genes.
