Test Requirements

A set of 3-4 SPECIAL TUBES is required [nil control/ TB antigen(s)/ mitogen control tubes; PREFERRED; contact lab]; if special tube set is unavailable, collection can be done in lithium heparin (green top) vacutainer (6mL MINIMUM) then later transferred to special set within 16 hours of collection. Transport/ handle the special tube set at room temperature (17-27℃; do not centrifuge or refrigerate). Heparin whole blood samples (where applicable) must be refrigerated. Promptly deliver to the lab. Components: Control results (nil tube, mitogen tube), TB antigen result/s and an overall interpretation.

Clinical Utility

Evaluates exposure to Mycobacterium tuberculosis by measuring the immune response to specific TB antigens. Assessment of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI).
