Peripheral whole blood, 2–4 mL (adults); 1–2 mL (pediatrics) Tube type: Sodium heparin (green-top) tube only. Do not refrigerate or freeze; avoid EDTA or citrate tubes. The sample must be viable; avoid hemolysis and clotting
