2ml EDTA plasma (preferred) or serum, separate plasma/serum immediately, 2–8 °C for up to 24 hours; freeze at −20 °C or below for longer storage, Refrigerated with cold packs; frozen samples on dry ice, PTH is unstable—avoid delays, hemolysis, and repeated freeze–thaw cycles

Clinical Utility

Diagnosis of hypoparathyroidism & hyperparathyroidism; evaluation of renal dialysis patients, hypocalcemia & hypercalcemia.
