HSG is an X-ray examination of the uterus and the fallopian tubes. This procedure is primarily done for evaluation of suspected infertility.
Exam Requirements
Patient should come or call for booking. Test is done on the 9th, 10th or 11th day from the start of menses/periods. Patient lies still till the end of procedure/exam. Patient empties bladder prior to procedure.
Instructions
Capture accurate patient information when reading request form to identify indications and contra-indications before the procedure/exam. Written instructions with procedure related information are provided to the patient.
Method
Patient lies still on the x-ray table. The part to be x-rayed is exposed to a small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures/ images of the inside of the body at different angles and positions, taking into consideration the region to be examined, type of exam and size of the patient. Images of good radiographic quality are printed & given to the radiologist for reporting. Doctors use it to evaluate the female reproductive system (uterus, fallopian tubes) and any pathologies associated with it.

Evaluation of the endometrial cavity with good sensitivity (i.e. presence of myomas, polyps, intrauterine adhesions, congenital anomalies), the fallopian tubes (i.e. proximal or distal block, presence of tubal rugae, adhesions.
