The special chemistry department offers a wide variety of tests including but not limited to

• Thyroid function tests
• Tests of reproductive function – follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estradiol (E2), prolactin, total testosterone etc.
• Tumor (cancer) markers e.g.
  • Prostate – prostate specific antigen (PSA)
  • Gastrointestinal – carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA)
  • Liver – alpha fetoprotein (AFP)
• Nutritional deficiencies – Vitamin B12, folate, ferritin
• Bone/ metabolic disorders – Vitamin D

Pathologists are available to review results and to provide guidance on test selection and clinical interpretation.
