Chemistry (ROUTINE)
The routine chemistry section offers a wide variety of tests for screening/ diagnosis/ management of various disorders e.g.
- Kidney – renal function tests (urea, electrolytes and creatinine), urine albumin creatinine ratio (uACR) etc.
- Hepatic (liver)- Liver function tests
- Diabetes – glucose (fasting, random, 2 hour postprandial), glycated hemoglobin [hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c)], oral glucose tolerance tests
- Assessment of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk
- Lipid disorders – lipid profile (lipogram)
- Highly sensitive CRP
- Assessment of bone & mineral metabolism e.g. calcium, magnesium, phosphorus
- Pancreatic disorders/ acute abdomen – Lipase, amylase
- Screening for drugs of abuse in urine (DAU)
- Assessment of body fluids – fluid protein, fluid albumin, serum ascites albumin gradient (SAAG), cryptococcal antigen (CRAG), etc.
The department employs a variety of automated state of the art analyzers to provide quality assured laboratory services within good turnaround time.
