SAMPLE/ CONTAINER/ PRESERVATIVE: 10g stool in clean, dry, wide mouthed container which is labeled. Alternatively, transport swab in Cary Blair transport medium. OTHER INSTRUCTIONS: Toilet paper is unsuitable for collection. Soiled diapers are unsuitable for sample submission. Test components: Pathogen isolation, identification & reporting of appropriate Antibiotics as applicable

TEST ORDERING: Specify method of collection i.e. whether urine is a midstream specimen of urine (MSSU), obtained by catheterization, via suprapubic aspirate or surgically. Test components: Pathogen isolation, identification & reporting of appropriate Antibiotics as applicable PATIENT PREPARATION: Give instructions for collection of clean catch, midstream urine prior to collection. OTHER INSTRUCTIONS: Samples containing boric acid preservative are inappropriate for dipstick examination.

FROZEN, DOUBLE CENTRIFUGED 2mL CITRATED PLASMA required. Collect whole blood in citrate tube(s) i.e. light blue cap vacutainer filled up to the mark, centrifuge, separate plasma, centrifuge plasma, separate & FREEZE supernatant.
