Test Requirements

Test cannot be ordered simply as flow cytometry. The exact panel must be specified by the ordering doctor. Order this specific panel ONLY for suspected CHRONIC LEUKEMIA/ LYMPHOMA (e.g. CLL) and this should be supported by previous tests e.g. peripheral blood film or bone marrow report. Leukopenic peripheral blood samples are suboptimal. 3mL EDTA + 3mL heparin peripheral blood / bone marrow sample required. Make fresh smears from EDTA sample. Slides to accompany vacutainers. Do NOT refrigerate. Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is NOT an indication for this test.

Clinical Utility

Classification and diagnosis of chronic leukemia/ lymphoma.
